The WiCAN app is developed and published by eMoticom. It is distributed under several brand names (eMoticom WiCAN, OXA WiCAN, TM Moto WiCAN) as a companion application for the WiCAN vehicle interface device.
2. Data we do NOT collect
We do not collect, process, or share any of your data, including but not limited to the following:
- Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to any server
- Any data from the vehicle or ECU beyond what is displayed locally on your device
3. Data stored locally on your device
The app stores the following data exclusively on your device:
- Device configuration files you load or create
- Log files recorded during a session (telemetry data from the connected vehicle)
- App preferences and UI state (saved to local storage)
- In-app purchase entitlement status (a receipt or token provided by Apple or Google, cached locally to allow offline use of purchased features)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share a file using your device’s standard share functionality.
4. Network access
The app communicates over your local Wi-Fi network with the WiCAN hardware device. All communication is confined to your local network; no data is sent to any server operated by eMoticom.
The app also supports over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates for the WiCAN device. The firmware binary is bundled inside the app itself and is transferred directly to the device over your local Wi-Fi network. No firmware is downloaded from any external server.
Android location permission: On Android 8.1 and later, the operating system requires the location permission in order to scan for nearby Wi-Fi networks. This permission is used solely to discover and connect to the WiCAN device on your local network. The app does not access, record, or transmit your geographic location.
In addition, if you choose to make an in-app purchase, the app contacts the platform billing service (Apple App Store or Google Play) to verify the transaction. This communication is initiated only on demand and is governed by Apple’s or Google’s respective privacy policies.
5. In-app purchases
The app offers optional in-app purchases to unlock additional features. All payment transactions are processed exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). eMoticom does not receive, process, or store any payment card information or billing details. The app receives only a purchase receipt or entitlement token from the platform, which is stored locally on your device to verify access to purchased features.

6. Third-party SDKs and services
The app does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service contacted is the platform’s native billing API (Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing), and only when a purchase action is initiated by the user.
7. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
8. EU / EEA / UK — General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
eMoticom is established in Italy and operates as the Data Controller for any personal data that may be processed in connection with this app.
As described in this policy, the app does not process personal data. Nevertheless, as a user in the EU, EEA, or UK you hold the following rights under GDPR (and UK GDPR), which you may exercise at any time by contacting us:
- Right of access — request confirmation of whether we hold data about you
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
Because we hold no personal data, we will respond to such requests by confirming that no data is held. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

9. Japan — Act on Protection of Personal Information (APPI)

10. California — CCPA / CPRA
We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. No opt-out mechanism is required as no personal information is collected or sold.
11. Other jurisdictions
We operate in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws in all countries where the app is available. Because no personal data is collected, the obligations imposed by frameworks such as Brazil’s LGPD, South Korea’s PIPA, Australia’s Privacy Act, and others are satisfied by the absence of data processing described in this policy.
12. Changes to this policy
If we ever change our data practices, this page will be updated with a new effective date. Given that no data is collected, material changes are unlikely.
